KIS/ BMEF SUMMER ACADEMY RAB

Klassisk i Sentrum (KIS), in collaboration with the Baltic Sea Music Education Foundation (BMEF), is pleased to invite applications for masterclasses in violin, viola, cello, double bass, piano and chamber ensembles, as well as wind ensembles and wind instruments, on the wonderful island of Rab in the Adriatic during the first two weeks of September 2026.
These masterclasses form part of the long-term work of KIS and BMEF to support and promote young musicians at a high level. For participants, this also represents an opportunity to be considered for future projects – and possibly for placement on the Baltic Sea Philharmonic Orchestra’s shortlist.

The course fee includes 3 to 5 lessons of 45 minutes each, with the possibility of additional lessons subject to availability.
In addition, participants will have the opportunity to take part in concerts in the region. Some ensemble activity will also be organized.
Rab is beautifully situated by the sea, a short ferry ride from the mainland in northern Croatia. The island can be reached by flights to Rijeka, Zadar and Zagreb. On selected dates, local authorities will assist with transport from the airport to Rab.
Teaching will take place mainly in Lopar.
Klassisk i Sentrum has made arrangements with accommodation providers and restaurants in the area to secure very favorable prices for participating students. The most common option is to stay in holiday apartments. These are generally of medium to high standard.
Course fees:
Solo: 3 to 5 lessons of 45 minutes each: €270 - €450
Lessons may be divided between different teachers.
Add-on: Individual lessons subject to availability: 45 minutes - €90 per lesson
Ensemble: 3 to 5 coaching sessions of 60 minutes each from €330 - €650 per ensemble, depending on the size of the ensemble.
Lessons may be divided between different teachers.
Add-on - Ensemble or individual lessons subject to availability: 45 minutes: €90/110/130 per lesson for individual lessons up to larger ensembles.
KIS offers up to 4 scholarships for students wishing to develop within the field of accompaniment. These students will have their course fee covered in exchange for assisting fellow participants as accompanists in lessons and concert situations. Applicants for this programme must submit two accompaniment samples of 3 minutes each. The scope of the programme will depend on the number of registered participants.

Please complete the application form and, if you wish, include a link to a short video of yourself of no more than 5 minutes.
We review all applications on an ongoing basis, but keep at least 20 percent of the places open until the deadline on 30 June 2026.
If you are accepted for participation in the masterclasses, 40 percent of the course fee must be paid within 7 days of confirmed acceptance. The remaining balance must be paid no later than the registration deadline of 30 June.
Refunds: KIS ACADEMY offers full refunds of paid fees until 30 June.
Cancellations after this date will not be refunded.
Accommodation is generally reasonably priced on Rab during this period. We are also happy to help put you in touch with various landlords if this is of interest.
