Om eventen

The February edition of Klassisk I Sentrum is about love and this concert focuses on brotherhood.

Arvo Pärt, the world's most performed living composer, has written an exceptionally beautiful piece of music entitled "Fratres" meaning "Brothers". The artistic director has collaborated with the composer on several occasions and in his time had the opportunity to initiate that the version we hear here, arranged by Lars Anders Tomter performing the solo voice, remained the official version of the arrangement for viola and orchestra.

The Norwegian composer Rolf Wallin has written a beautiful piece called Elegy. Originally for trumpet and organ, here in a version for viola and strings. A beautifully unaddressed breath of melancholy.

The focus on music for viola leaves room for another viola work on the program: Adagio by Zoltan Kodaly. Here we leave the Nordics and move to Hungary. Kodaly and Bartok traveled around collecting folk music. They then wrote their own music, undeniably influenced by the impressions they received through this work.

Edvard Grieg's Violin Sonata in C minor is his most magnificent sonata and moves through an enormous range of drama and emotion. It is with pleasure that we have put it on the program tonight.

In 2017, Yejin Gil was nominated for the "Deutsche Schallplattenpreis" for his recording of Alexander Scriabin's music for solo piano

It is therefore with pride that we present this work to our dear audience this evening.
