KIS Winter Masterclasses
Application deadline 1. of December 2023

Between the 8th and 14th of January 2024, KIS will organize master classes for strings, piano, singers and fixed chamber ensembles in Grimstad, Norway. - - - ::: - - - OUR FACULTY: Mark Gothoni - Violin/ Viola/ Chamber music Jan Bjøranger - Violin/ Viola/ Chamber music Paul Cortese - Viola/ Violin/ Chamber music Alain Meunier - Cello/ Chamber music Yuko Miyagawa - Cello/ Chamber music Jean Marie Cottet - Piano/ Chamber music Yejin Gil - Piano/ Chamber music Gwilym Simcock - Piano/ Improvising Isa Katharina Gericke - Lied/ Vocal - - - ::: - - - The tuition fee entitles you to a minimum of 3 lessons of 45 minutes, with the possibility of extension if capacity. The participants will have the opportunity to take part in concerts in the region. Some ensemble activity may also be organised. Grimstad is located furthest south in Norway and the Autumn is very beautiful. In addition to meetings with wonderful teachers, colleagues and our audience, we believe that the place itself will be able to provide good experiences. Grimstad is a 3-hour drive from Oslo. You can easily get there by plane to Oslo and by bus. Even closer the Kristiansand Airport is situated, which is only a 45-minute journey from the destination. The teaching will take place mainly in Grimstad. "Klassisk i sentrum" has made favorable agreements with hotels and restaurants for the participants. Tuition fees: Solo - 3 - 6 lessons of 45 minutes: €345 - €690 The teaching may be distributed between different teachers. Add ons: Individual teaching at capacity: 45 minutes - €100/lesson Ensembles: 3 - 6 lessons of 60 minutes €525 - €750 The tutoring may be distributed between different professors. Add on: Ensemble teaching at capacity: 60 minutes - €100/teaching session. Add on: Individual teaching at capacity: 45 minutes - €100/teaching session. KIS offers up to 4 scholarships for students who want to develop in the field of accompaniment. They will have the tuition fee covered, in exchange for assisting fellow students as accompanists in teaching and concert situations. They will be followed up by our professors. Applicants for this program will have to send two samples of accompaniment of 3 minutes each. For all applicants: Fill in the application form and attach a link to a short video of yourself of a maximum of 3 minutes. We assess all applications continuously, but keep a minimum of 20 per cent of the places open until deadline the 1st of September. If you or your ensemble is approved for participation in the master classes, 40 percent of the course fee (Minimum €130 for solo and €210 for ensembles) must be paid within 7 days of confirmed approval. The remaining amount must be paid no later than the deadline for registration, December 1st 2024. Full fee may also be payed at the first installment Refund: KIS ACADEMY offers a full refund of fees paid, until December 1st. Cancellations after this time will not be refunded unless the participant can be replaced by another qualified course participant. We have made agreements with various accommodations. Information about this will be published continuously. Hotel accommodation costs approximately from 30 - 100€ per night depending on location and number of people in the room. The hotels have a consistently high standard. Some shared rooms in hotels have simple cooking facilities. In addition, there is the option of cabin accommodation and Airbnb. These solutions are in general favorable. NB If you have already partcipated in the KIS Masterclasses you are obliged to a discount of 10% of the fee.
